Introduction

The Alfa Romeo Owners Club (AROC) Ltd. was formed in 1964 when Alfa Romeo cars had started to become more numerous in the UK. With the continued expansion of sales and the arrival of the Alfasud, Alfetta, 33 and 75, the Club grew steadily and now has over 4000 members. With another strong revival of Alfa sales following the introduction of the superb 156 and 147 and soon the Alfa GT, membership looks likely to expand still further. The majority of our members live in the British Isles, but we do cater for overseas subscribers.

The objectives of the Club, as set out in the Memorandum of Association, are: "the encouragement of all activities associated with the use of Alfa Romeo vehicles, the development of an interest in the tradition and culture of the Alfa Romeo marque and the promotion of such sports and social activities, between persons interested in the same." In other words, if you are interested in racing, driving, maintaining or showing a modern, classic or vintage Alfa Romeo, or in spectating at Alfa Romeo motorsport events, or enjoying the company and support of a group of people who are, this non-exclusive club has something for you.

Organisation

AROC's national committee co-ordinate the activities of some thirty local or "area" sections spread throughout the UK and a technical support network of "model" registers, each dedicated to a particular type or model of car. The committee's events team is responsible for organising our flagship national events, such as National Alfa Day, as well as an official presence at classic car shows whilst the motorsports section organise track days, a racing programme and the AROC Victor Ludorum Championship.

The Club maintain close ties with Alfa Romeo (GB) and the dealer network but remain entirely independent. We are also in regular contact with Alfa Romeo Owners Clubs all over the world, exchanging magazines, encouraging our members to visit overseas events and welcoming visitors from abroad.

Events

National Alfa Day is the Club's main summer event usually held at a large country house style venue with plenty to do for all the family including; the annual concours d'elegance competition, displays arranged by the model registers, trade stands and a prize giving for the winners of our racing championship.

Other regional gatherings invariably feature in the Club calendar and the season always opens with "Spring Alfa Day".

The Club maintains a presence at a number of indoor and outdoor Classic Car events, such as the "Auto Italia" International Classic Car Weekend at Brooklands.

Visits to Alfa events in France, Holland, Belgium and Germany have also been organised and popular motoring holidays to Italy and Ireland feature regularly.

The Diary page on this website has a comprehensive list of forthcoming events.

Area Sections

Currently thirty Sections have already been established, holding regular meetings and having their own calendar of events which have a keen following. It is hoped that all members within striking distance of an area section will give their support to its activities. The names and addresses of respective area section secretaries will be found in the Club Magazine and contact details also appear on the Area Sections page of this website.

Model Registers

The Club has (or is associated with) an expanding number of model registers whose purpose is to share information relating to the Registers are there to help owners of new or old cars share information with specific problems related to restoration, maintenance, spare parts and insurance valuations. For more information visit the Model Registers page on this website.

Competition

The Club has a strong competition element and, through the AROC Victor Ludorum Championship, encourages its members in all forms of motorsport and in many different race series. Each year members compete in our own race programme as well as in other national and international events, driving modern, classic and vintage Alfa Romeo cars.

We are pleased to enjoy the support of the Club's recommended insurer, Chris Knott Insurance Consultants (www.chrisknott.co.uk) as our main sponsor of the AROC Victor Ludorum Championship.

Low-key competitive events often feature at major Club days and track days are organised in conjunction with well known commercial organisations.

Club Shop

The Club Shop is able to offer a range of merchandise including an attractive Club tie, car badge, key fob and many other items such as embroidered badges and clothing. A range of Alfa books, models and technical literature is also available.

Full details appear regularly in the Magazine and Newsletter.

Keeping in Touch

This website and bi-monthly magazines and newsletters are used to keep members informed of what's happening at the national and local level. The magazine typically contains details of new models and products, technical articles, "Letters to the Editor", advertisements for both cars and spare parts and, most importantly, announcements and reports of all Club events.

There is also an active online discussion forum available to all AROC members.

In 1997 we published a Directory of Services for the first time and this is now reproduced bi-annually.
