The Ron Callard Trophy The Cotswold Section are proud to announce that they were the recipient of the Ron Callard Trophy this year (2006) at National Alfa Day. Ron Callard was one of the original members of AROC, from the mid-late sixties, was married to Margaret and lived at Bisham, Marlow, Bucks. He died in December 2003 after battling cancer, but even when ill this didn't stop him from still continuing trips abroad with Margaret in their blue Junior Zagato. Margaret still drives the car and presented the trophy on National Alfa Day. The Cotswold Section Committee would like to thank all our members for helping us make the section what it is today ! Long may we continue in the same spirit. |

January 2006 Meeting - Scalextric Challenge
Before racing commenced demonstration laps were performed by Rob Whitney with his 147 GTA and Richard Morris with his Giulia Coupe 2000 GTV. Just like in real life the 147 had to retire with mechanical problems, the Bertie performed very well but is now in the workshop having fluff removed from the 'diff! For the racing itself we used a couple of battered Mitsubishi touring cars. |

Members of the Cotswold Section in Fierce Competition! |
|
|
The racing began with 7 first round races each of 10 laps, drivers were given 5 laps practice. Fastest lap in the first round went to Paul Spink with 5.3 seconds. The seven winners plus the fastest loser, which was Vito with 6.3 seconds, went through to the 2nd round where there were 4, 10 lap races. Paul broke his own lap record with a time of 5.2 seconds. The 4 winners went through to the semi-finals which were 15 laps races. Paul beat Tony, Richard Morris beat John Mills. The final was a 20 lap race won by Richard Morris and equaled the lap record. The 3rd place play-off was won by John. Tony was hampered by tyre troubles !! Paul and John received bottles of Asti Spumante and Richard won the top prize an AROC shirt which he donated to a future competition with the quote "Red just isn't me! " Drivers then had a bit of a free-for-all trying to beat the lap record, no-one managed it. Several drivers switched to F1 cars but couldn't cope with the extra power ! |

Regular monthly get-together April 2005 Another well attended meeting on a very foggy evening. There were around 20 Alfas, both classic and modern, in the car park of the Roman Court Hotel. It is still early days in the life of the relaunched section but if attendance continues at this level the future looks assured. Plans for future events were discussed along with final details concerning our presence at the British Hill Climb Championship at Prescott Hill on May 1st. |

| March 2005 | |

On Wednesday 2nd March, the section held it's first full meeting since
reforming and despite a horrendous weather forecast for snow & ice, 34
members turned out, bringing with them 25 Alfa's.
Next section meeting Wednesday 3rd Wednesday of the month at The Roman Court Hotel, Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire, Click this link for a map Please see the Diary Dates page for the regular meeting dates. |

Despite the cold and lack of light, included here are photographs of some
of the cars that turned up on the night.
There was a good mix of both old and new Alfas, thanks to the brave souls that own them bringing them out in the salt, snow & ice. Looking forward to the lighter evenings when we should get some much better pictures at this great location. |
|
Our first event is to be held at Prescott Hill Climb on Sunday 1st of May 2005, for full details see the Event Section Please send an email to Paul Morris if you would like to attend, just so he can allot enough parking spaces. There will be a prize for the "most desirable Alfa" attending
