HELLO, GOODWOOD SECTION MEMBERS. This is my first newsletter as Section Membership/Social Secretary, so first of all I'm sure we'd all like to thank Tony Powell for all his work as Section Secretary (supported by Jane, of course), and to wish him well in his exciting new job in the Ukraine.
He has, of course, handed over to me the membership list, but I have to say I cannot visualise some of the faces that go with the names!
So, I think this would be a good time for each of you to PLEASE CONFIRM THAT YOU WOULD STILL LIKE TO RECEIVE THE NEWSLETTER, by e-mailing me at info@arocgoodwood.co.uk .
Thanks and regards,
Sue Stephenson

Our January meeting included the AGM, when Tony officially bowed out, and the various tasks of Section Secretary have now been split. Keith Goffe has that formal title, and he will steer things along with his usual enthusiasm (and his undoubted skill as a one-man Sussex Good Pub Guide!), and will liaise with the National Club as and when required. I will carry on as Social Secretary and will also maintain the Group's membership records and write and distribute the Newsletter. Technical support (already received) will come from the endlessly patient Bill Smith.
The rest of the committee remains the same (see January 2008 Newsletter), with the addition of Ian Vosper who has joined us as an additional members' rep, (for which many thanks).
A good time was had by all (29!) of us at the skittles lunch at The Spur at Slindon on the 10th February, and congratulations to our new Ladies Skittles Champion (a visitor, Susan Grist) and Men's Skittles Champion (David Goffe -not quite so new, he has won it before). And to Pauline, of course, who was thrilled with the Wooden Spoon! It was also lovely to see some old friends from the Sussex Coast Section.

Those of you who've been members for a while may remember a most enjoyable evening at the Skid Pan at Goodwood some years back, and we'd like to offer it again. For a party of 12, the cost is £47.08 per head for a three-hour session - two cars and instructors are used to break the party down into two small groups and this enables everyone to have maximum tuition.
As for the date, a weekday evening in June (for maximum light), would be what we are aiming for. I have two suggestions here - either any Friday in June, or how about Club Night (26th) so that any partners who don't really want to watch their nearest and dearest going round in circles can meet up at Funtington - perhaps for a meal?
Can you please let me know as soon as possible if you are interested in this event, and if you'd prefer a Friday or Club Night, so that we can fix a date a make a booking.
We will be scheduling the usual favourites - Bangers and Mash at The Good Intent (probably in July for a change), a picnic/walk at Harting Down (probably in August), a visit to Jim Stokes' workshop (probably in September), and lunch at Il Palio, Brockenhurst (probably in October)
We are also looking into a visit to the Rolls Royce enterprise at Goodwood, and an Open Air Classical Concert (if we can find one at a suitable convenient venue). There are one or two other things we are investigating, so you can all look forward to a very sociable summer!
Next Club Night is March 27th.
