HELLO, GOODWOOD SECTION MEMBERS.
Thanks to all of you who responded to the March Newsletter, this has helped me to bring my distribution list up to date and I will have very few envelopes to write this time around!
Still, just a reminder, if your details chage at all please let me know by e-mailing me at info@arocgoodwood.co.uk or phoning home: 023 80 454378 mob: 07769 738052
Spring Alfa Day at Chatham: there was a really good turn out of lovely cars but the weather was unkind - cold, windy, and then some nice heavy rain! However, we did all manage to stop shivering enough to have a cheery photograph taken, and here it is:

Friday May 9th - Classic Alfa Track Day, Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit (105 series cars and earlier)
Sunday May 18th - Goodwood Section visit to Tangmere Museum, and picnic lunch. For more information about this interesting museum, visit www.tangmere-museum.org.uk/ The museum opens at 10.00 and we'll meet up for our picnic at 1pm. Let's hope the weather is kinder than at Chatham.
Sunday June 1st - Alfa Romeo Owners Club National Concourse, Stanford Hall
Saturday June 21st - Boat Trip around Chichester Harbour (commencing c.6.30pm at Bosham, finished at c.8.00pm), BOOKING FORM AT THE END OF THIS NEWSLETTER!
Thursday June 26th - Skid Pan at Goodwood. (NB: this is also Club Night). Derek Preston has kindly undertaken to organise this event. Six Goodwood members have committed to take part, and we have offered the remaining six places to the Sussex Coast Section. Once we have filled all the places, a booking form will be sent around for pre-payment (£47.08), and details of what the non-skidders will be doing that evening!
Thursday July 17th - Bangers and Mash at The Good Intent - we are fixing this a little earlier this year, thank Keith for making the booking.
Thursday Sept 4th - thanks to Jim Stokes' continuing generosity- the always welcome visit to see the treasures at his premises.
Sunday December 14th - Christmas Lunch at The White Horse
Saturday July 5th - In the last Newsletter the possibility of an open-air concert was - well, aired! There is a Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra concert at Portchester Castle on July 5th - for more information, visit www.bsolive.com It looks like a nice programme and it's a spectacular setting. If we book before June 5th it's £19.00 (I must be honest, I don't think the additional potential further saving of £1 per head for a group booking is really worth the hassle of getting you all to book through me!). What I cannot find out from the site is how much it costs if one books after June 5th! Maybe at the April meeting (in a slender two day's time!) we can see how many people might be interested in this.
Next Club Night is April 24th, that's right, this Thursday - maybe now the clocks have changed a few more folks might venture out .............
Nikki Perry has been in touch. AROC have secured a Club discount with the Institute of Advanced Motorists. The IAM has offered the Club the chance to purchase two DVDs - "The Police Drivers Course on Advance Driving" and "IAM Road Safety" which could be loaned to sections for members to watch - the idea being, if they were not phased by what they saw, they might consider taking the Advanced Driving Course themselves (watching the DVD is not meant to be a substitute for the course!).
Nikki needs to assess the level of interest. Can you let me know by end of April if this might be of interest to you so that I can respond to Nikki.
There was a really interesting prog on Radio 4 on Tuesday 22nd April (4.30pm) in the Great Lives series - it was all about Fangio and the guest was Stirling Moss - you've got a few days to catch it on line via the BBC Radio 4 Listen Again service - which is dead easy, even I can use it.
And if you want a cheap laugh, do go to YouTube, search for Honda ad and watch the spoof...!
