News

Hope you've all enjoyed our lovely Indian Summer (which seems to have come to a rather damp and abrupt end this very day).  Certainly those who made it down to Brockenhurst for the lunch at Il Palio last weekend will have seen some stunning autumnal shades.

But before then, back in September, a good group took up Jim Stokes generous offer of an evening visit to his premises to see some of the wonderful vehicles that he and his team are working on - I am sure you would all like me to thank Jim and Hilary on your behalf for giving up their time and offering such warm hospitality.

Geoff Stuart- I am sure all of you heard of the sudden and untimely death of Geoff Stuart in early September.  Geoff enjoyed his life, and his cars, to the full, and his unfailingly cheerful presence will be missed.

There is not much for your diaries this time, (except of course the next two monthly meetings (Thursday 30th October, and Thursday 27th November) but I am now able to send you the booking form and menu for this year's Goodwood Section Christmas Lunch, which is once again at The White Horse, on Sunday December 14th.

Menu and Booking form for Christmas Lunch 2008, Sunday 14th December at The White Horse (The Pub with No Name), arriving 12 to 12.30, sitting down for lunch at 1.00pm

 Starter:

1. Roasted Winter Vegetable soup with crispy croutons and chives

2. Crab and Watercress Tartlets served with mixed leaves

3. Salad of Grilled Goats cheese with roasted beetroot and a walnut  dressing

4. Gammon Terrine with Fried Quail's Egg served with home made grape and apple chutney

Main: 

5. Traditional turkey stuffed with chestnut stuffing, wrapped in bacon served with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, gravy and cranberry sauce

6. Char-grilled Fillets of Guilt-Head Bream served with Charmoula and garlic and Thyme Chips

7. Beef And Wild Mushrooms in Stout served with Champ Potatoes

8.Stuffed Red Peppers with Pine Nuts and Basil served with saffron rice

9. Home made Christmas pudding served with rum custard

10. Pedro Ximenez Sherry Cheesecake served with toasted hazelnuts

11. Cob Nut Meringue with forest Fruit Sauce served with crème fraiche
12. Selection of mixed Cheeses served with biscuits and Grape Chutney
