Trips will tentatively be organised on behalf of Club members who wish to participate in the following events. These trips are open to ALL Club members on a first come first served basis. All trips are intended to be both appealing and affordable for the majority of members. Please contact me in the first instance to register an interest. Advice on bespoke trips for individuals to any of these events can also be provided.
All enquiries regarding Club Trips should be made to: Nick Clancy (E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org or Tel: 07712 299565)
Mille Miglia 2017 (also to include a visit to the new Alfa Romeo Museum at Arese)(17th – 22nd May 2017)
5 nighttrip to Italy by sea or by air (fewer or greater number of nights also possible)
Having received enough interest from Club members to make a trip viable, this trip will now go ahead. The last organised Club trip to this event was back in 2008 (the year James Martin started, but didn’t finish in his Maserati!).
Participants may choose either to drive to Italy in their own car, or fly to Italy and hire a car. Hotel accommodation has been arranged for 5 nights in the resort town of Desenzano del Garda on the shores of Lake Garda. This is the first town that the competitors pass through after departing from Breschia.
A full itinerary is being planned, which will also include an opportunity to visit to the newly re-vamped Alfa Romeo Historical Museum at Arese.
The Villa d’Este Concours event will take place the following weekend on the shores of Lake Como, so anyone who would like to extend their time in Italy could take in both of these prestigious events. In this case, any additional nights will need to be booked independently, but assistance and advice can be provided where necessary. LIMITED SPACE AVAILABLE - PLEASE BOOK NOW (or contact me for further information)!
45th OLDTIMER GRAND PRIX, Nurburgring, Germany(10th – 15th August)
5 night trip to Germany (fewer or greater number of nights also possible).
Our accommodation will be in a small family run hotel in the picturesque medieval town of Bad Munstereifel in the Eifel region of Germany. A twin or double room costs approximately €90 / night and single room €60 / night (including breakfast). You are free to choose your own Channel crossing by ferry or Eurotunnel, but early booking is recommended.
For those who wish, there will be an opportunity to watch the 3-hour Classic race on the Nordschleife on Friday afternoon. Alternatively, you may like to take a short drive to the Mosel for some wine tasting. Saturday and Sunday will be spent at the F1 circuit for the rest of the Oldtimer Grand Prix, which also includes the largest gathering of the year for the German Alfaclub. There should also be time over the weekend for a lap or two of the Nordschliefe if you are brave enough! Some people will no doubt want to travel home on Monday, but for those who wish to extend their stay this will be a free day for you to further explore the local area, or maybe travel part of the way back and spend a final night in one of the Belgian Cities (Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp etc.). Early booking is recommended.
SPETTACOLO SPORTIVO, Assen, Netherlands(17th – 22nd August)
5 night trip to The Netherlands (fewer or greater number of nights also possible).
This event is being held a week earlier than normal, coming as it does just a week after the Oldtimer Grand Prix weekend Germany, so this may be a good opportunity for anyone able to have an extended holiday in Europe to take in both of these great events. The itinerary for the AROC trip will be very similar to two years ago, featuring overnight stops in Antwerp and Zaandam, with 2 nights in the University City of Groningen.
Preceding the main event weekend, the Dutch SCARB club are once again organising their “Coppa Spettacolo” for foreign visitors, which, this year will be a series of day trips centred in Assen. Club members will have the option to join either the AROC tour, or the SCARB tour and information on both tours will be provided to those who register an interest. Early booking is recommended.
SPA SIX HOURS, Spa Froncorchamps Circuit, Belgium(13th – 18th September)
5 night trip to Belgium (fewer or greater number of nights also possible).
Following a successful trip to this event in September last year, I am planning a second visit to the Spa Six Hours race meeting. This 12-race meeting (featuring historic Touring Cars, Sports Cars and F1 Cars) will be held over 3 days at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, with the main event, the Spa Six Hours race being run on the Saturday between 4.00 pm – 10.00 pm. There will be plenty to see and do over the weekend and those travelling in a “classic” Alfa (over 25 years old) will get free parking and maybe even the opportunity to drive their car on the historic Spa circuit! Our accommodation in Belgium will be at a small family run hotel close to the circuit. Expect to pay around €100 / night for a double room or €65 / night for a single room (these rates include breakfast and a 4-course evening meal). Limited space is available.
24thannual trip to Ireland(provisional dates 19th – 24th October 2017)
5 night trip to Ireland(fewer or greater number of nights also possible).
This year, we will be returning to Westport, Co. Mayo (one of our favourite destinations over the years), where we shall spend the first 4 nights. Our final night will be spent in Dublin. Full details are yet to be finalised, but all those interested should contact me without delay so that I can better gauge the correct number of rooms to book.
Anyone interested in participating in any of the above trips should contact Nick Clancy as soon as possible for further information.
