The Scottish Section’s famous end of season bash is always eagerly anticipated and this year it is scheduled to take place over the weekend of September 3rd & 4th. This might seem a long time away, but preparations are already well advanced and demand for places is likely to be high.
For members who haven’t been on a Carrera a little explanation is in order. The main aim of the event is to enjoy our Alfas on some of Scotland’s most beautiful byways and this is done in the form of a light hearted treasure hunt / mystery tour. A few weeks before the off, participants are told where to assemble for the start but it is only on the day that the final destinations are revealed. A road book details the route and includes a range of clues to be solved along the way – the questions are just a bit of fun and although answering is by no means compulsory, you need to be aware that correct answers gain points and we all know what they make!
After a day behind the wheel, Saturday evening’s dinner is an undoubted high point and provides everyone an opportunity to socialise with fellow Alfisti – but don’t worry, this isn’t a “nerds” convention and intense debates on the relative merits of Weber and Dell’Orto carburettors are a rarity!
Sunday starts with a leisurely breakfast before setting off on the last leg of the event that takes the party through to a late lunch and the prize giving. Those who have had a go at answering the clues will be in with a chance of winning some very prestigious prizes whilst the highest points scorer receives the ultimate accolade – the honour of organising next year’s event!
So in summary, the event is all about fun – enjoying our cars, mixing with friendly like-minded people, partaking of scrumptious food and revelling in beautiful Scottish scenery.
Hotel cost will be in the order of £160 per couple for dinner, bed and breakfast and you are invited to contact Mike Shea email@example.com for more details and to reserve your place.
