Section Event Gallery
Southern Alfa Day - Stonor Park, Oxfordshire
19 September 2020
Photos by Jason Hood, Graham Whiteside, Matthew Manners
Who would have guessed at the beginning of the year that this regional event, organised this year by the Thames Valley Section, would become the only large outdoor AROC event of the year? Very few I think.
Stonor Park is a beautiful historic country house set in some lovely rolling hills. Much effort was made by the team at the venue with the local council, health authority and police to ensure it could go ahead, with a raft of Covid-safe measures. You can tell by the photos even that the cars were well spread out. There had to be a limit on ticket sales, and it was a sell-out at 400 cars and around 800 individual tickets. Around 70 non-members attended, but about a dozen of those joined up on the day too.
A good number of our Section attended, and thanks to them for the photos here. I’m not going to repeat Alex Black’s here—to get the full fix of those please hop on to the Gallery at the main AROC-UK.com website.
The full Club shop wasn’t in attendance as we can’t have people trying on apparel, but the host of smaller items sold well. There was constant demand for masks - a new large batch s being ordered in!
Cars for special mention include a dozen 4Cs, (Paul Jones was expecting 4 or 5), and the great selection of early Giuliettas, that arrived in all of the model’s shapes and forms.
A lovely sunny day graced us anyway, making it all most enjoyable. Thanks to all of our Section team who helped in various ways to make it so enjoyable.
