MacMillan Classic Motor Show, July 2014

The Guildford Area Group of Macmillan Cancer Support has staged its annual Classic Motor Show and Family Fun Day at Clandon Park, a National Trust property near Guildford, for the last four years. The purposed is to raise funds to support their work, which includes funding for a number of community support staff.

This year, for the first time, we organised an AROC Surrey Section display complete with gazebo and with the assistance of one or two members from adjoining sections, we had a total of nine cars on display including a Montreal, GTV6, Berlina and some Spiders.  Fortunately the weather was agreeable enough for the Spider owners to be able to leave their tops down for the day!

In all there were over 200 vehicles at the show, including a large selection of Raleigh Choppers and vintage motorcycles. The oldest car was a 1908 Gregoire; some of the most eye-catching were a handful of immaculate 1960s Aston Martin DBs parked just a few yards from the Section. There was also an extremely rare Mk1 Audi 100 from the early 1970s.

Many thanks to those who supported our display and other members who just came along to the event on the day. We hope to continue to support this event in future years.
