In October, we held our first winter pub meeting since February 2020, a gap of 21 months ! Instead of our normal watering hole, the St Leonards Hotel, we visited the Empress of Blandings, the scene of a few “Blag a Ride” meets in the past (but our first indoor pub meet there) !
A relatively small but select group turned out including new member Dave Brodrick to whom we offer a warm welcome
Our September meeting saw us meet up for a convoy run across the New Forest to visit Amalfi, a new Italian restaurant in Hythe. A total of 14 individuals with ten cars met up at Lyndhurst and set off in convoy to travel across the forest via Beaulieu to Hythe.
Among these was new members, Brian Adams in his Guilia QV and Nigel Roberts in his Brera to whom we offer a big welcome.
Arriving at the Amalfi restaurant , we enjoyed a very enjoyable evening with good food and convivial company
Many thanks to Stephen Paddock who planned and organised the evening.
Our August meeting saw a return to Pamphill Hall, an interesting old wooden building with a skittle alley near Kingston Lacy. An enjoyable summer evening was spent with a fine turnout of beautiful Alfas to admire and another excellent barbeque provided by Ian and Joanne Brookfield (Italian style sausages this time !). Our main July meeting was our annual Show and Shine fun concours competition, returning after missing 2020. The event was again held at the Langton Arms at Tarrant Monkton, a beautiful old Dorset thatched pub in an idyllic village setting. The pub has the benefit of a large field where we can display our cars. Earlier in the day, the weather was a concern with frequent showers and brisk winds but we were fortunate in that this cleared and we enjoyed a dry and sunny evening !
With the change in date of our Show and Shine event to late July, we took the opportunity to hold an additional meet up in the New Forest on July 8th. A total of 10 Alfas (and an Abarth 124 Spider !) showed up at Horseshoe Bottom car park with their owners and we welcomed new members, David and Barbara Marklew and Steve Millar who were attending their first Wessex Section meeting
