Report: Our July Section meeting
Our Section's Annual General Meeting was held at our usual meeting place at The Bay Horse in Green Hammerton on July 17. The venue was packed and attracted a large number of cars including a Montreal.
The formalities of the AGM were handled by Nicholas Williamson, who presented a review in three parts; Alfa Romeo's commercial prospects; the performance of the AROC and the continuing success of the Yorkshire Section. We then had a Treasurer's report from Jon Trinder and a short speech from Colin to thank the assembled for their continuing and much appreciated support.
All existing officers were unanimously re-elected for another year and the AGM closed after a number of suggestions were collated in Any Other Business with special thanks being mentioned for John, Tina and staff at The Bay Horse for looking after us so well; not just on the evening but for the last year.
Following our AGM, to lighten the evening's proceedings, we had a Quiz compiled by our own Stuart Merton to test our general knowledge with prizes on offer, as donated by Paul Jones of Autoworld Chesterfield. As some of our members were heard to remark, a knowledge of TV programmes since the 1970s might have stood you in good stead! Well done to the quiz winners with Mick and Melissa in first place, runner-up Graham Brotherton and Hugh Allan, who snook home in third place.
The meeting gave us the chance to look back on the events we'll have attended since our last meeting in June and also give us the opportunity look ahead to our forthcoming trips out, including the traditionally popular Ripon Classic Car gathering and Harewood Hillclimb. So, another relaxed, informal and enjoyable night was had by all.
